Mike likes to joke that much like Gloria on Modern Family, I like to celebrate every little anniversary of each mundane detail of our relationship (but I'm really not that bad!). I can tell you he is exactly like Jay and never knows exactly what we're supposed to be celebrating. The man has no internal calendar, if you know what I mean. I'm a good sport about it and tease him about his horrible memory, even if it took him several minutes to guess what today is.
I'll give you a hint, since you're not married to me and all. One year ago today, Mike gave me this:
And to me, that's worth celebrating. Not just because I got a gorgeous ring that day, but because February 27, 2011 was the day that led me to where I am today. I'll never forget how completely and utterly happy I was, how hard it was to let him drive away, how I almost wrecked because I was too busy staring at my ring to drive home, how exciting it was to call everyone I could think of with the news. I'll always remember that day as one of the happiest days of my life, the day I tricked this amazing man into marrying me.
Unfortunately, we won't be able to celebrate together today, since Mike is away this week. We'll just have to make up for it this weekend!
Since we got engaged back when almost no one beside Mike read my blog, you may want to check out our engagement story (also, see Mike's version). Spoiler alert: it happened in a U-Haul. Romantic, right? We even made a game out of spotting U-Hauls, but I'm beating Mike pretty badly. It's one of those random things I can't wait to pass down to our kids...and then they'll grow up and be confused when none of their friends know the U-Haul game. :/ Sorry, kids!
And happy little anniversary, husband.
I hope now you can understand why I celebrate it. :)
