Tonight Mike and I are off on our way to Chicago! Stay tuned for an onslaught of touristy tweets and instagram photos this weekend. In the meantime, let's talk about summer!
Summer has always been my favorite season. Obviously school is out, and any kid (or college student) can appreciate that. I think people tend to be partial to the season of their birthday too (mine's in August). But there are so many little things that I love about summer, it's impossible to say what exactly makes it my favorite:
long, lazy summer days
my freckles come out to say hello (and multiply)
not having to bundle up for once--I'll take 100 degree heat over 30 degrees any day.
having an excuse to eat all the ice cream I want
so many reasons to go outside!
Vitamin D makes you happy. Literally.
sweet tea tastes even better in the summer
shorts and sundress weather
the smell of freshly cut grass and anything on the grill
riding with the windows down and happy music blasting
veggies fresh from the garden
catching lightning bugs (or as you non-Southerners call them, fireflies)
swimming until you're all pruny
one word: WATERMELON.
Usually my list would include the beach, but moving to Omaha kind of put a damper on that. I don't know how these midwesterners live without being within driving distance of an ocean!
So what's your favorite part of summer?
{And check back next week for all the wedding recaps!}
