Mike and I are in Chicago early this week celebrating our anniversary.
Seemed like a good time to finally share our wedding with y'all. Enjoy!

We sent out a ridiculous number of invitations, and I was determined not to spend a fortune. I ended up ordering from zazzle and getting them for less than $1 each! They were on nice thick white paper and printed on front and back. The blue was more aqua than it looks here. I also used zazzle to order our wedding programs and RSVP postcards that the designer made after I requested them (saves a bunch on postage!). Everything is completely customizable, which I love!
I know this verse is what Ruth said to Naomi, but I always thought it would be perfect for a wedding!
We used a verse from Song of Solomon on our programs:
Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm;for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame. Many waters cannot quench love;rivers cannot sweep it away.Song of Solomon 8:6-7a
My favorite part of the invitations was our little stamp. I just couldn't resist stamping our little faces all over the place.
It rained on our wedding day, but thankfully it was early and quick. It was probably a good thing because Alabama summers can be mercilessly hot.
The amazing people at Mathew's Manor did the flowers with only one day's notice after the etsy seller I had ordered from fell through. I was literally sending angry emails back and forth to this lady at 3 in the morning two days before my wedding. Something always has to go wrong, right?
I adore my personalized hanger with my new name. It's now proudly displayed in our bedroom.
Remember when I spent the last week of school in my classroom making this amazing guestbook from our engagement photos? Yeah, me neither. But it turned out pretty awesome, and it's a great keepsake from that day. I like to think our guests enjoyed looking through it and signing it, as opposed to a blank guestbook. (I made mine on Shutterfly.)
Our decor was pretty simple: old books, wine bottle candles covered in drippy colorful candle wax (it's a hobby of mine), and framed photos of us, which our guest were free to take home at the end of the night. Our Mr. and Mrs. signs had a little surprise on the back, which you'll see in a different post.
Our cake could not have turned out better! I actually teared up when I first saw it that day. I love the shellacked buttercream icing, the soft pink flowers and the adorable birdie cake topper and little banner on top. It didn't taste too bad either. :)
There was such a fuss over Mike's cake (I'm embarrassed to say that a few tears were shed on my part...wedding planning is horrible, y'all!), but it turned out great. Mike wanted a soccer/Alabama/Ireland themed cake. That's right, all three on one cake. My mind just about exploded picturing this over-themed monstrosity. Thankfully we were able to compromise and he got two out of the three things, while keeping the rest of the cake simple and delicious. And so we passed Marital Compromise Test #1.
And of course the most important detail of all, Mike's grandparents' rings. So so special.
a few more details:
mustache on a stick set for a few goofy pictures
favors were CDs of our wedding playlist
the perfect little bridal panties
Tomorrow you get to see the moment we first saw each other that day!
