Reason #1: For the past two years Mike and I were able to celebrate the 4th of July lazily by watching the fireworks going off all over the city from the comfort of our bedroom window. The pictures were crap but the moment was magical. Also, in unrelated news, I ate half a watermelon in one sitting (yay 'Murica!).
Reason #2: The College World Series is held here! Sadly we didn't make it to a game this year but hopefully Bama will give us a reason to be there next time. (fingers crossed!)
Reason #3: The U.S. Figure Skating Championships will be here in January! I'm SO there (and dragging Mike with me).
Reason #4: I got to see Michael Phelps swim last week in the Olympic Swim Trials! This city just keeps getting better.
Oh you know I got closeups.
The races were so much more exciting in person than I imagined! The first time those flames went off during the light show it was like an eerie reminder of the Hunger Games for some reason...
After he won they interviewed him for a minute and he couldn't have been more gracious and endearing.
If I weren't married I'd have a crush for sure!
Thanks to the awesome KT for inviting me! I had a blast!
I have to say, our expectations for Omaha have been exceeded by far! Now if only someone around here would give me a teaching job it would be perfect...
